You can find an OHV Certification Course to take that will allow you to have all of the knowledge you need to start riding your UTV.
If you are under the age of 16 and want to ride on public lands in Utah, you have to get certified. The minimum age to take the OHV Safety Course is 8 years old.
The course is $34.95. You only have to pass it one time for life and you can retake the test as many times as needed.. The course will cover material on OHVs, ATVs, OHM( Off Highway Motorcycles), and UTVs. If you are riding a snowmobile, that certification is separate.
When taking the OHV Certification Course for training requirements for UTV/ATV, there are a variety of topics you will participate in to make sure you are ready to ride. You will learn about being responsible and ethical when driving, correct handling and shifting, weight distribution, proper machine sizing and safe riding practices.All of these aspects of the certification are important and will give you the knowledge and tools you need to drive and ride safely.
When you sign up to take the online course, you will find it is packed to the max with useful information. You will see a series of videos that are designed to supply you with scenarios to give you the most experience. You will learn effective ways to be safe off-roading. If you want a printed guide to help you along, those are also available on Offroad Ed. If you do prefer the online course, you do not need a computer. You can access the course online with your tablet, phone, or laptop. The best part is, if you stop in the middle- your progress is automatically saved. Then when you log back in, you can pick up right where you left off.
There are two options for taking this test. You can choose to perform the test online here, or if you like more of a hands on approach there are in classroom options available.
