A UTV trail ride is lots of fun, but what should you bring with you? If you’re new to UTV trail rides, you might feel uncertain. You’ll want to prepare so you can have a blast, but you’ll also want to have tools on hand in case you break down or have an emergency.
Here’s everything you should bring on a UTV ride for a day trip.
From Your Garage
When going through your garage, you should consider bringing things such as these:
Allen wrench set.
Interchangeable screwdriver.
Pliers or Vise-Grips.
Hardware, nuts, and bolts.
You never know what will happen on a UTV trail ride. That’s why keeping these parts with you could come in handy—you never know when you’ll need your Allen wrench set or those extra nuts and bolts.
If There’s an Emergency
Emergency supplies should be a priority. Bring the following items:
Zip ties and duct tape.
A Flashlight or headlamp.
Spare batteries.
Tire plug kit.
Air compressor.
Winch and tow strap.
Tools to start a fire.
Fire extinguisher.
Pocket knife.
Having emergency supplies on hand is always a good idea, whether you’re by yourself or with a friend on your UTV trail ride. Some of these tools are good even if there’s no emergency.
For example, having a headlamp can help you see in the dark. Maybe you plan your trail ride for daylight hours, but the sun might set earlier than you anticipate. You could also lose something and need a flashlight to find it in the dark.
Spare Parts
Just like having a spare tire for your vehicle is essential, you should bring the following spares for your UTV:
Axle.
Ball joints.
Drive belt.
Extra gas.
Tie rods.
Tire.
Spare parts are a must-have for any trail ride. We can’t emphasize enough the need to bring gas; you never know how much you’re going to end up using.
Of course, you’ll want to start your trail ride with a full tank of gas. But having an extra container filled with gas will give you peace of mind if you break down or the trail turns out to be longer than you expected.
Another spare part you’ll want to have is a tire. You never know when you’ll run over a nail or a sharp object. This could disable your UTV and leave you stranded, but having a tire on hand will enable you to get back on the road.
Axles, ball joints, drive belts, and tie rods are equally important since you can’t drive your UTV without them.
