DIFFERENT TYPES OF UTV TIRES

Your UTV came with stock tires, which are a fine general purpose tire. However, you may be interested in upgrading your tires to something that is higher quality. Or maybe you’re looking for something that will compliment the type of UTV riding you enjoy most.

Having the wrong tire can slow you down, put unnecessary wear on your UTV, and prematurely wear out your stock tires. Before you begin shopping you will notice that there are many different types of UTV tires to choose from.

Here is a breakdown of the different types of UTV tires:

All-Terrain

If you still want a good general-purpose tire but an upgraded version of the stock tires your UTV came with, you’ll want to shop for an all-terrain tire. These tires have thick, rugged lugs that are about an inch tall and spaced far enough apart to give you grip over rocks, tree branches, and even some traction in the snow, sand, or mud. When you look for an upgraded version, choose something with a heavy-duty sidewall to avoid getting a flat tire from any rocks or sticks you may come across.

Sand

This tire has a uniquely shaped thread that is designed like a paddle to help “scoop” the sand as you cruise over the top of it. This is the type of thread you’ll want for your rear tires.  For the front tires, look for a limited tread just down the center of the tire to keep it from sinking and to give you maneuverability.

Mud

If you enjoy spending a lot of time in the mud on your UTV you’ll want a mud tire… one that has a wide, inside-to-outside thread pattern. These wide and deep threads will give you traction and control in the soft terrain, allowing you to move through the mud instead of getting stuck in it.

Racing

Of course, if you’re big into racing or just have a need for speed you’ll want to consider a racing tire. These tires have a knob-like pattern that works well on medium or hard terrains. It is going to be a very lightweight tire to keep you moving as quickly as possible.

Just as there are many different types of UTV tires, there are many different types of UTV windshields. You have the 2017 Kawasaki Mule windshield, the Koplin full tilting windshield, the Polaris RZR XP 1000 glass windshield, and the Ryfab RZR windshield, just to name a few.
