Best Way To Clean Your Leather Seats
Getting mud, dirt, and other messes on your leather seats are just part of life, especially when you’re busy tearing it up in your UTV. It’s important to be able to enjoy yourself when you’re mudding, in the sand, or on mountainous trails.
That’s why knowing how to clean your leather seats before you head out can put your mind at ease; whatever mess you get into you’ll be able to make your seats look as good as new.
Here’s the best way to clean your leather seats, and allow yourself to just sit back and enjoy your UTV outing!
Remove Debris
Before you really get to scrubbing, you’ll want to remove as much of the debris as possible. If it’s really bad you may want to get a roll of paper towels, wipe, and then toss as much of the mud or dirt as possible.
Then, once you’ve gotten the bulk of the debris removed, grab a damp cloth and wipe away anything that’s left. (If your seats aren’t too dirty, to begin with, you can just start with a damp cloth).
Be sure not to get your leather seats too wet to avoid ruining them. Pay special attention to the cracks and stitching in the leather and be sure you are removing any debris that may have accumulated there as well.
Clean
Now it’s time to clean your leather seats. You want to use something gentle enough to keep your seats in good condition, but strong enough to get rid of any stains or messes.
You can try any number of commercial leather cleaners or try making your own by mixing warm water and dish soap in a bucket. Gently wipe and clean your seats without getting them soaking wet.
Use a clean, damp cloth to remove any leftover soap and then dry your seats with a towel.
Polish
Once your seats are cleaned, it’s time to give them a good polish. You can’t go wrong with Armor All or other vehicle leather polishing products. Just use them sparingly so you’re not slipping and sliding in your seat.
Protectant
Another way to help keep your leather seats looking shiny and new is to apply a protectant after cleaning them. This will not only help them immediately look nice, but it’ll help keep them looking nicer and more protected for future rides as well. Mother’s Protectant is a great one to try.
Another great way to keep your seats clean is by investing in a side-by-side windshield. It is one many UTV upgrades that can save you time and money. Not only will you be protected, but you’ll have less mess to clean up too!
